Inspired by the natural world, I abstract it into visual "haiku." My aesthetic is minimalist. Line, texture, and negative space
are my design palette with the sparkle of a gem to add color in many pieces.
Timeless is the word that I use to describe my studio
art jewelry. Trends come and go but a graceful line caressing a neck, finger, or wrist will always be in style. Timeless is not meek
or ordinary. Minimalist design can be eye catching, soul stirring, and bold.
My most recent collection is called "Metal Petals Never
Fade and Fall." The arc of a petal or leaf creates endless possibilities for design. Examples of this collection are in the three
photos on the right side of this page.
Another recurring theme in my work is texture. By applying texture to the metal surface,
I can invoke desert landscapes or pock marked lunar surfaces and the feel of velvet, linen or silk.

On a personal note, my educational background includes a bachelor's degree
in fine arts, a master's degree in museum administration, and instruction in jewelry design and fabrication from several master goldsmiths.
I enjoyed a professional career at the University of California, Berkeley as a college and museum administrator before retiring to
begin my second career as a goldsmith.
